JUSTICE FOR VICTORIA LEE
WE STAND FOR
VICTORIA LEE
Community who stand with us:

We stands for justice, accountability, and systemic change. We believe that no one in a mental health crisis should be met with violence instead of care. Victoria Lee’s tragic death is a painful reminder of how law enforcement’s response to mental health emergencies too often ends in unnecessary and preventable loss. We refuse to accept this as normal.
We are a coalition of individuals, advocacy groups, and organizations committed to:
-
Justice for Victoria Lee – Demanding a full, independent investigation and accountability for those responsible for her killing.
-
Mental Health Over Policing – Pushing for increased funding in mental health services and the creation of non-police crisis response teams.
-
Systemic Change – Advocating for policy reforms that prioritize de-escalation, cultural competency, and community-based solutions instead of armed law enforcement interventions.

MEET VICTORIA LEE
On July 28, 2024, Victoria Lee, a 25-year-old Korean American, was in the midst of a mental health crisis when her family, concerned for her safety and well-being, did what countless families are told to do in moments of crisis—they called 911 for help. They expected emergency responders to arrive with compassion, medical care, and the means to safely transport Victoria to a hospital where she could receive the support she needed.
Instead, what should have been a routine call for medical assistance ended in tragedy. Rather than de-escalating the situation and ensuring Victoria’s safety, police officers responded with deadly force, shooting and killing her in her own home. This was not an unavoidable outcome. This was a failure—a devastating and irreversible failure of a system that continues to treat mental health crises as crimes rather than medical emergencies.
Victoria should be alive today. Her family should not be mourning her loss. And our community should not have to demand answers to questions that should never have been raised in the first place.
Now, we stand together to demand justice for Victoria Lee. We refuse to let her death be dismissed or forgotten. We will fight for accountability, transparency, and real change so that no other family has to endure this kind of preventable loss.
Excessive force is not justice better decisions save lives.

This horrific incident is not an isolated case. Our state must invest more in culturally competent mental health services and alternatives to the law enforcement responses that have too often ended the lives of those they should have protected.
With our national partner Stop AAPI Hate, we demand that the state of New Jersey:
-
launch a thorough and transparent investigation into the killing of Victoria Lee
-
reduce unnecessary law enforcement involvement in mental health crises by significantly expanding and investing in mental health services
-
implement comprehensive and immediate changes across all state and local law enforcement agencies
These steps are essential to save lives and ensure no other family in New Jersey has to endure the unimaginable pain and loss that Victoria Lee’s loved ones are facing.
